This course follows the Shamanic approach and the ancient ways of the Native Americans in Stone massage who have done this work for over 5,000 years. Jenny is from the Dakota tribe and would love to share her tribe’s knowledge to us LaStone therapists who are interested in learning.
The ceremonies are the focus of the course. Jenny opens in circle where the legend of the talking feather is shared and we all share our intention for the sacred time we will spend together. Jenny tells the creation story and how the Stone Tribe has been here to teach us and how they are the memory keepers (historians). There are ways to ‘rest’ the stones that are symbolic and ritualistic. This brings a spiritual component to the treatment process which enhances the physical work of LaStone. We spend time in circle with the directions, learning the Dakoka way of calling the directions and what each means and how its colours are used. We make tobacco ties and offer them to the alter with our prayers.There is a gathering ceremony where we discuss who among the Stone Tribe offers to serve the wellness of the two leggeds (humans) and how to discover their names.
We journey on the second day. The journey is a shamanic tool for reaching our inner spirit where we travel through time and space to discover deep inner strengths. During this journey process we come into contact with the animal spirits who wish to serve our higher needs. One Journey is guided by Jenny, to find a four legged, a swimming one and a winged one to help us work as healers. The second journey is for enlightenment and Jenny drums but does not guide this one as each person is able to self guide this journey by then. We discus in circle the things we are ‘seeing’ and learning about ourselves and the Stone Tribe. We spend time massaging with the stones in a traditional way. There are also ways to smudge that carry deeper meaning than most know about and this is taught on the first day.
Each person receives a book with all the ceremonies outlined and defined with illustrations of the massage information.
This work originated in the family circle and it is meant to be used by anyone who can speak the language of the stones.
